Prices are for opening a locked vehicle. The final figure depends on the car and where you are, and I'll confirm it on the phone before setting off — including any mileage — so you know the total before you agree to anything.
Compare that to waiting. If you're not a breakdown member, the AA and RAC will charge you a one-off recovery fee and often quote three to four hours at busy times. I'm usually with you in under half an hour.
Almost every car I open is opened non-destructively — the lock and the door are exactly as they were before I arrived, and you drive away without a claim, a bodyshop visit or a conversation with your insurer.
That matters more than people realise. A drilled lock or a bent door frame on a car that's on finance or a lease turns a £79 problem into a £600 one. I carry the right tools for modern locking systems and I won't touch your car until we've both agreed what I'm doing.
Before I open any vehicle I'll need to see that it's yours — your V5C, insurance certificate, or photo ID matching a document in the car. It takes thirty seconds, and it's the reason you can trust that nobody else can call me out to your car either.
The most common call I get. Keys on the seat, doors shut, engine sometimes still running. Usually open within fifteen minutes of arriving.
No spare and no way home. I'll get you into the vehicle and talk you through your options for replacement keys.

No. The overwhelming majority of vehicles are opened non-destructively, leaving no trace at all. In the rare case where that isn't possible, I'll explain the options and the costs before doing anything, and the decision is yours.
If you're not already a member, yes — and considerably faster. Breakdown providers charge a one-off fee for non-members and often quote three to four hours for a lockout at busy times. If you are a member, it's worth calling them for a wait time first, then calling me.
